Ever Found Yourself Being Judgy? – 10 of 21
Have you ever found yourself being judgy? I was feeling annoyed and frustrated with a friend and complaining to Paul when I had a HUGE Ah-ha moment.
I realized I was unconsciously recreating a belief system that belonged to a long time ago and trying to make it fit in my life now.
When I went to church, if you didn’t follow the rules, you were “kicked out” and no one was allowed to talk to you – not even your family until you repented and showed that you were back “on the right track”.
In this conversation, I realized I had been unconsciously doing this with my friend. The “right way” to be, of course, was the way I saw things. 😉 “It sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself of something Jennifer. She is who she is. That’s why you’re friends with her! You love the time you spend with her,” Paul said.
He was right. She and I had so much in common and I love to hang out with her. She is hilarious and so incredibly talented. I was really only frustrated that she didn’t realize her worth and act upon it.
What triggers us is a sign of where we need to do work and heal.
Then I realized if others had been so quick to abandon ship when they saw me allowing continuous cycles of abuse to happen, I would have been a very lonely person.
I am grateful for my amazing circle of friends.
Much Love
