Discover that you can and do belong!

In a strong community there is reciprocity between the members. All contribute and bring something to the group dynamic. We all are made with unique skills, insights, and strengths. As you get to know the community, you start to see how you can contribute and what you have to offer. When you feel the give and receive of a community it really helps you to feel a part of it – like you have a place where you fit.

Feeling the support and love of community allows you to shift from surviving to thriving. It helps to give you purpose and feeling of pride. It allows you to be a tree in a forest of other trees.

And for these three beautiful reasons, I fold community into the focus of my group events. Every other Wednesday, I provide Sound Healing events where people gather in community and feel connected and nourished deep in their soul/being.

Most things you’re healing from happened in person

Most things you’re healing from happened in person-to-person relationships.

Traumas and hurts that you are working through are things that happened in relation to someone or something; that creates a type of relationship. A relationship can be with people, places, or things. You can be healing a relationship with food, a toxic romantic relationship, or a relationship with a family member.

All of those relationships affect how you show up and interact with your life.

If you are alone on your healing journey, you could work on some of the traumas involving things or places but your deepest healing is going to be the healing done in relation to people. And how are you really going to see the progress you’ve made if you’re doing it by yourself.

Let’s say you working to heal a fear of driving. How would you know that you’ve healed that fear? You’d get in a car and drive right?

In the isolated incubated healing space, you can start the healing you need to do to face relationships with people. You can work on your part in an untriggered situation. However, at some point you are going to need to interact with other humans.

Starting with a safe and kind group people is important. Interacting with people will introduce you to situations that allow you to see how much healing you’ve done and what areas can use more. It helps to rebuild your resilience and face triggers in a loving supportive space.

In this way, you can only reach this level of healing with others around you.

You Need Community to Truly Heal

I have chatted with so many people about how they are on “their own healing journey” and how they’re doing a lot of healing on their own. This is great news! Everyone needs to start somewhere.

However, there is only so much one can do on their solo healing journey. There are a few reasons for this this.

One - There is a part of your nervous system that will only light up when you are in community/companionship.

Humans are pack animals. We historically lived and moved in groups of people because this was how we would stay safe. Being in a group is so important to our survival, that it is wired into our brains. Prehistorically we would need someone to watch over us while we tended to any wounds or injuries, so they could notify us if danger came. The same is true for us today. To feel truly safe in being vulnerable we need to have another person with us.

When you are “healing” something, it means in some form or another, you are bringing up an event or feeling in your body that has discomfort. When you don’t feel safe, this will send your nervous system into fight, flight, or freeze mode and your body and mind will start to separate from the event or feeling you were working to bring up.

When you are with a person that you feel safe with, your nervous system will be able to navigate/regulate the situation you are wanting to heal more easily because you are not alone. Meaning in your brain’s awareness, you’re less vulnerable. The other person, if trained and experienced, can also help to regulate your nervous system too.

Are you receiving and refuelling?

If you are a person who is taking care of, holding space for, and/or in a service role, it is incredibly important for you to receive and refuel.

When you’re leading and giving in a caring role there is a high risk of burn out. Where you become so focused on meeting other’s needs there’s a risk you forget about your own - or even become blocked to your own nourishing needs.

There’s also a risk that you become disconnected from those you’re serving. It’s easy to become are accustomed to leading that loose the pulse on what’s needed. You can forget how to meet with compassion and humility.

We are designed to both give and receive. So if you’re only giving your energy and being will be out of alignment.

I attended a beautiful event last weekend held by @izzybelisle and @iam.rachelinspired where I got to receive. I got to receive in a community (meet up with an unexpected friend @reikibyterry) of lovely humans and magical horses.

I had been missing horses in my life and when I saw this event was being held my heart danced YES! I knew I needed to receive and refuel with this wonderful offering. What a blessing! I also loved seeing a heart, a sign from the Universe I’m in the right place, on one of the horses sweet faces 🥰

So I encourage you to check in with yourself especially as things tend to wind up at this time of year, are you remembering to receive and refuel? 🤗💖✨

Shifting your perspective teaches your brain what you want. And when you shift your focus you shift your attention and where your attention goes that’s where your results flow.

How to stop the pattern you’re stuck in - Limiting Beliefs Part 3

So you’re stuck and tired of being in this rut repeating the same experiences and outcomes.

You have maybe tried doing things like, talk therapy, meditation or even medication and you’re not feeling that much better. The same patterns keep repeating with different people and circumstances in your life.

In the previous two parts we talked about how and why beliefs are formed. Now how do you get rid of them when they feel like they’re keeping you stuck?

There is one more thing to know about limiting beliefs first - where they are stored. This is the key that affects what will work in getting rid of them.

Limiting beliefs are stored in the unconscious mind. Which means they will happen automatically and there will be a lot that you won’t be aware of consciously - because they’re not stored in your conscious awareness. They’re essentially running in the background.

This means you’ll need a modality that accesses and communicates with your unconscious/subconscious mind.

Hypnosis is a modality that speaks directly with your unconscious mind to update old ways of being. It helps heal old hurts, release limiting beliefs and allows new habits and behaviours to be created. In a much faster way than traditional therapies because it goes right to the source.

Limiting Beliefs Part 2 - How do they affect you?

As I talked about in “Part 1 - where they come from”, you have/see/hear experiences and your unconscious mind makes connections based on these experiences and the outcome. Those connections turn into beliefs or rules - E=LB

For example, if you loved someone and they broke up with you in a mean and hurtful way, your unconscious mind could make the connection that love = hurt, which creates the limiting belief, “people I love will hurt me”.

This is usually all very behind the scenes, in the unconscious mind, away from your conscious mind’s awareness.

You aren’t aware of all of your unconscious limiting beliefs but you may be aware of how they show up in your life in the form of repeating behaviours, patterns, or experiences.

You see, these limiting beliefs are originally created as a form of self protection and preservation. And as such they serve as guard rails to keep you away from what your unconscious mind views as dangerous.

Thus it can keep us travelling the same paths over and over.

Limiting beliefs will unknowingly block us from (using the previous example) making new or deeper friends/connections by keeping the places we go to a minimum. It might have us create fights or tension in existing relationships so we hurt before we’re hurt.

Limiting beliefs make our world narrow and small. They keep us from having or being more. They keep us stuck.

Limiting beliefs Part 1 - How they are created.

Limiting beliefs are created from: 1. things you’ve been told by others, 2 experiences (often just a one time experience) that you’ve had and strongly hold on to the outcome of them as firm “This is the way it goes”, or 3. things you’ve seen other’s experience.

1. The things you’ve told comes in many forms. It can come in the form of observing our parents, while growing up, do things then expecting a certain outcome. They go to work but expect they won’t have enough to “make ends meet”. These ways our parents moving through and showing up in life are often beliefs or “rules” they were taught by their parents that they now bring forward through embodiment.

Or parents, teachers or friends may have said things that limit your view of yourself, “you’re not good enough”, “you’re never going to be able to do that”. Etc. These often flippant things that are said to us start shaping the way the we show up. Being what we try to achieve or shy away from based on these things we are told we are/or are not capable of.

These things/beliefs are said verbally, through actions and unconsciously shown to us.

2. Experiences you’ve had. You may have been dating someone and when they broke up with you it hurt a lot. Then you connected love with being hurt (a limiting belief about love and your ability to experience it).

You may have done something and someone rejected you or cut you out of their life physically or emotionally. You may have developed a belief that people with abandon you as a result.

Or as a child you may have had to pick up the slack for an emotionally or physically absent parent. And so learned that if something has to get done it has to be done by you (as your experience was) as no one else is going to do it. This is a limiting belief.

3. Things you’ve seen others experience.
You may have witnessed abuse in your home life and therefore feel you can’t trust can’t trust people close to you and/or be waiting to see how they’ll hurt you.

Our unconscious mind creates a set of rules or beliefs based off of these experiences. These are called limiting beliefs.

It’ll tell you that you’re always going to feel this way - it’s the only emotion you can experience.

It’ll tell you that there’s no way out.

It’ll tell you that what you have is all you’re ever going to have.

Anxiety tells you that you’re alone and you’ll always be alone.

Anxiety lies to you.

But it’s wrong!

You can heal. You can discover the trauma, experiences and limiting beliefs that created this anxiety and story and bring loving healing to them.

Here’s the catch. You probably don’t know how or you would have done it.

“It’s a funny thing to be afraid of your own mind“ someone said on a documentary I was watching.

It is the one place where always are - attached to our mind. And an incredibly highly percentage of people are afraid of their mind and what they think It’s hiding.

One thing I hear from people when I talk about hypnosis or plant medicines is - “I’m afraid of what I’ll find”.

There’s a fear of facing what may come up and so they spend a loooooot of time and energy avoiding it. To be honest, they spend more energy avoiding it than facing it and walking through it.

I also find, that once someone connects with their mind again using hypnosis, they finally experience peace, ease and feelings of self-love and self-worth.

It’s incredible to witness someone facing their fears and stepping into their strength and peace 🕊️

Are you struggling with feelings of lack?

I had this conversation with a new client this week. How she feels like no matter what she does she always has this underlying feeling of lack.

In our conversation she glossed over how someone offered to pay her back for something and she refused it, how she went on vacation but it “was only local” not in another country…

I said to her, “The feelings of lack are directly correlated to your ability to receive.” I stopped for a breath while that landed then said,

“The antidote to lack is Receiving.”

If we’re offering to do nice tins for people and they offer us something in return, and we say no thank you. We just missed an opportunity to fill ourselves up.

Lack means you don’t have. And if someone offers you something and you refuse it. You’re staying in and sticking yourself in a place of not having - Lack.

Sometimes we’re so focused on the getting big stuff - big paycheque, big house, dream job, perfect partner etc. that we refuse or don’t acknowledge the little stuff.

If we have a hard time receiving a “you look nice today”. How are you expecting to receive the dream partner that brings you flowers, serenades you after a 7 course meal that they just surprised you with, then offers to massage your tired feet?! You wouldn’t - it would be way too outside of your comfort zone. So in turn, you remain in lack.

And if you refuse the small stuff the big stuff just won’t come.

Start practicing not being in lack by receiving the small things - a compliment, a job title change, a hug thank you etc.

Dreams do come true! 🥹

I said this as I looked at each person. I was feeling so overwhelmed with the feelings of being surrounded by incredible humans that are my chosen soul family.

It got me thinking how much I wanted this gathering to take place last February. Steve and Nici and I had planned a workshop to take place in February and I was so beyond excited for it.

But my soul group hadn’t arrived. There was more foundational work to be done and reciprocity wasn’t present yet.

So it didn’t happen. And I was gutted and frustrated.

But it was perfect that it fell apart! Because it needed to be rebuilt and new people needed to be discovered.

Never in my life have I had such a deep soulful connection of community. I’ve had incredible friends but never a community that gathered together to play, grow, laugh, and heal as a collective.

And that’s why February couldn’t happen. The space, the people and heck even I wasn’t ready for the magic of it all.

Until last weekend!

Steve and Nici arrived and Paul and I had a beautiful bonding evening with them. Then Saturday we gathered in community for what was supposed to be a sound bath, some breathwork and some confiding call and answer.

We entered the transformational space and things took a turn. I knew they’d turn but I didn’t realize how much!

In the Grounding Room where I hold space for others and guide them on their healing journeys, my community held me as I released and purged years of trauma and abuse, the residue of growing someone else’s ancestral trauma, and pockets of fear and stuckness.

It was loud. It was messy and it was one of the most vulnerable times of my life. And it was met with soothing love, compassion and remarkable support.

I’ve always dreamed of having a loving soulful community. Relationships that transcend the superficial day to day events and root into the bigger picture, higher vibration, and into heart and soul of it all. And it has arrived!

I’m so blessed to have been held. I’m so blessed to have so many magical healing people in my life. And I’m so blessed to be able to help others find their magic and welcome them into this community 💖

What is your comfort zone made out of? It’s made o

What is your comfort zone made out of? It’s made out of things that feel familiar (trauma and limiting beliefs feel familiar), it’s made out of fears of the unknown, and it’s made out of feelings of unworthiness and feeling like we’re not enough for anything more.

Essentially our comfort zones are made up of these thoughts, feelings and beliefs that become like guide posts and fence posts that are keen to contain us under the “guise of keeping us safe”.

There’s a problem though, this thought of our comfort zone keeping us safe is based on old out-dated information. That now that the external situations have changed from when we first learned the “lessons”, thethe effects are now the opposite. They keep us stuck, hidden, and missing out on our life.

And the more we stay in our comfort zone, those walls are slowly moving inward. So slowly that it’s barely imperceptible. Until you realize that something you would have done in the past is now too scary/uncomfortable to do. And this cycle keeps repeating.

If you want to move out of this trapping comfort zone, you have to release those old limiting beliefs, traumas and Delia’s of lack.

If you want to move your comfort zone you have to lean into those walls. Push them further away by leaning into new empowering experiences that challenge the old ways of being.

An excellent way to do this is by addressing the roses of these things in your unconscious mind using hypnosis.
